About the artist...
As a consummate artist, Gioi Tran expresses himself in varied creative idioms and is a strong creative force influencing many distinct fields. He has a long standing passion for fine arts and dance but has built his career in the design field. He received a B.S. in Interior Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and has an Interior Design company in San Francisco as well as a furniture line he designs and manufactures. His paintings, with passionate use of bright colors and intensive technique, depict his perceptions of nature, seen as layers of light and shadow. The interlacing of color creates a tapestry, both linear yet lyrical.
Tran’s current work is inspired by landscape with a water element. He finds that reflections are a lot more interesting than the water itself so he focuses on abstracting on the reflections to create an overall effect of lights and color moving through the canvas. Tran makes a point of abstracting the water to give it interest, light and movement.
